Apple, AT&T partner to assist deaf with iPhone 4 and FaceTime

I love Apple and all Apple products... I have the new iPhone 4 and love it. I know there have been some issues, but nothing that would have me retreat back to my iPhone 3GS. Since getting the iPhone 4, I have used Hamilton CapTel. Now there is buzz that Apple and AT&T are going to partner with ZVRS to bring video relay calling for deaf and hard-of-hearing users via the iPhone 4 and its FaceTime video chat functionality.

If they would put a better amplifier in the phone and make it hearing aid compatible then maybe they could also help out the Hard of Hearing people like me. Grrrrrr

If you weren't at the NAD Conference in Philly, you have a second chance to check out ZVRS on iPhone 4. The Z™ will host a launch party during DeafNation World Expo in Las Vegas. Guests will have the opportunity to see ZVRS on iPhone 4, the world’s first video relay service (VRS) that allows deaf and hard of hearing individuals to place phone calls to hearing people on a mobile handheld device. ZVRS calls can be placed on Apple’s iPhone 4, using its built-in FaceTime software.

The party and live demonstration will take place on July 20 in the Venetian Palazzo Ballroom from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are required for entry and can be picked up for free at The Z™’s booth at Deaf Nation World Expo.
